  1. I have a large supply of bulk Epson ink for my R200 that I'd like to use. The problem I'm facing is the chip on the 3rd party cartridges. I bought a chip resetter but it won't work on anything except the original Epson cartridges. Not wanting to go to all the hassle of trying to refill the original cartridges, (a real pain in the butt) I was wondering if anyone knew of a resetter, chip or refillable cartridge that would allow me to use my bulk ink. Help is appreciated.

I'm not sure if this applys to you,
But i have the CIS system and the chips on it have reset by themselves when the ink went below 10% in the carts.
Did your carts run down that low and did not reset ??

    Hey Noahtuck,

I too have the CIS system which I bought from JLW Sales and was wondering at what point the cartridges are reset. I kept getting reminders that my black ink was low, which was getting annoying. Is 10% the point where they reset? If so, maybe that explains why they didn't reset for me because my black ink was only down to 18%. I eventually manually reset it myself using the SCC utility. Is there any problem with doing that? I'm obviously still learning about how to best use my CIS system.

  4. I think I read in the other CIS R200 thread that DMAGIC resets his by hitting the cartridge change button, (sending the cart to the change position) and almost immediately hitting it again...Worth a shot just find the other thread about the CIS it's on the last page or two...

  5. I don't have a CIS system, just the typical aftermarket cartridges purchased from megatoners. Trying to find a chip resetter that will reset different aftermarket cartridges.

I also read that dmagic1 reset by doing the button trick but i have not had to yet, i read somewhere that they will reset after getting so low, 10%, i never got a warning just when i print it it will show the little screen with all the ink tank levels, my black kept getting lower and when it reached a small amount left in the gauge, after i shut it off and turned it back on, the black gauge was full again.

I did'nt think you had a CIS system but because you had aftermarket tanks i thought maybe they were set up the same way and was wondering how far you have let the tanks go down ? if they went below 10% or totaly empty and have not reset themselves turning off your printer and turning it back on or just popping one out and back in.

    Noahtuck - you stated...

When you mention that after you shut "it" off and turned "it" back on, I assume you're referring to the printer? If so, maybe that's why mine didn't reset and why I kept getting those reminders that my ink is low. After reading 14 pages of discussion regarding the CIS system, I have followed the advice from others and no longer turn my R200 off, I just leave it on all the time to conserve ink. However, I guess when the ink runs low and I want it to reset, turning it off and back on will be necessary.

    Yeah,
ya know, i read that also about turning them off, and i did notice acouple of times, maybe 3 all together, they did act like they were re purging or something, but since i have shut it off everyday and it has not done it again ?? so i don't worry about it ? and i had no luck with that utility so i dumped it... but i know when my ink was low enough i was wondering, but like i said, after i turned it off when it was low enough and turned it back on, the black was reset to full and it did not do the purging thing or whatever they called it.

Where did you get your resetter? If it works for the epson carts it should work for the after-market ones. I have a resetter that I got off ebay. It works fine for G&G carts. Maybe you don't have them lined up right. Sometimes if you don't line them up right the light will stay on and never flash as it should. What exactly does your resetter do?

I don't use the attachment that came with mine. I line the points up visually.

  10. Don't remember where I got it. I just know that it won't reset the aftermarket cartridges I got from megatoners. Guess I'll just have to go with the JWL sales CIS that this thread has turned into. I wonder what kind of problems I would have with it. Guess I should start another thread and ask for potential problems on the CIS.

  12. Not too good if you go thru a full set in 1 1/2 weeks.

  13. I bought the R200 cartridges from megatoners. I was able to use the Epson chip resetter (from Universal Photo Fast Ink) and easily refilled the cartridges. The top of the cartridge has a spot that you can insert the ink refiller. The chip resetter does not align to the cartridge, but you can easily align it to reset the chip (5-7 seconds of contact and flashing light on the chip resetter).

I recently received some new cartridges from megatoners which appear to be different from the 1st set I had ordered. I have not tried those yet.
