  1. I am a TV tuner card to copy TV programmes to my hard drive and these are saved as a MPG file not a MPEG files.
I want to copy the MPG file to a Dvd but the software I have seen only does this for MPEG files.
Any suggestions which software would work

Well ... MPG and MPEG mean the same thing (Motion Picture Equipment Group). The only reason you see "MPG" is because, when the file format was first invented, Windows operating systems only recognized 3-letter file extentions ... hence, the shortening of MPEG to MPG.

The question is what "format" of MPEG file you're saving. Some capture devices capture MPEG1 format (VCD type). Others capture MPEG2 format (DVD type). If your capture card captures MPEG2, then you're in business. All you need to do is "demultiplex" the MPEG2 file into its two parts (audio and video) using a tool like TMPGEnc Plus ... giving you an "M2V" file (video) and an "MP2" file (audio). Then use DVDAuthorGUI to turn those two files into a DVD-ready fileset, DVDshrink to turn that fileset into an ISO file, and DVDdecrypter to burn the ISO to a DVD.

Of course, there are other methods and software. But, that's what I use when I capture TV programs I want to archive on DVD.
