  1. My friend copied some vhs tapes to his hard drive and would like to burn them them to a DVD. They are in .mpg format. Can .mpg files be burned to a DVD or do they need to be converted to a different format first? If they need to be converted what format would be best to convert them to and what program could he use to convert them? Thanks.

You can just burn the mpg as data files on a dvd and many dvd divx capable players will play them fine.

But I guess you want a real dvd-video. Then use a dvd-authoring application, try free apps like guifordvdauthor, dvd flick, dvd styler.

avstodvd is another freebie you can try out to make an actual dvd. Also consider multiavchd.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I tried to burn mpg files as data, but Nero does not recognize it.
    What burner do you use?
