  1. I want to convert my 8mm video tapes to NTSC. Then I want to convert the NTSC to PAL and burn them so my family in Germany can watch them.

I thought I'd get the NEC (?) 3520A for $65 on the home page of videohelp for a DVD burner, but what should I get for a computer input from my camcorder that will output PAL or NTSC?

    1. Your 8mm tape will either be PAL or NTSC, so you don't need to convert it to NTSC then to PAL.

    2. There is a very good chance that your family will be able to view NTSC disks, as Germany, while being PAL, is open to all comers. I have a German TV (damn fine Loewe) that will (and does) quite happily switch automatically between PAL and NTSC. I'd check with them before going to too much effort.

    3. ATI cards seem to be popular for capture. They will capture NTSC though, so you will have to do the conversion yourself. Of you can search for format converters on Ebay or in Google.

    4. If you absolutely do have to convert formats, go to the guides (marked How To) on your left. Choose ALL GUIDES, then under conversion, choose NTSC to PAL. You will get a number of guides on how to do this.
