im using premier pro 1.5 and for some reason when i capture from dv my computer crashes when the video gets to around 550mb
any ideas why this might be?

You could try another method of transfering DV to the computer.
For instance WinDV is a popular free program that can be used to transfer DV from a camcorder to a computer.
