    Hi, folks! I'm a pc user and my friend's video streams are in a mac. I want to transfer the streams back to my pc, where I'll do dvd encoding, subtitles, etc. My plan is to take my 120 GB seagate, in 2 partitions:NTFS and FAT32. Will his mac (OS X, I guess) read/write the FAT32? What about the 20 GB FAT unstability? Finally, how can I make my hdd read/write compatible to both machines? I've read somewhere that MAC OS X Extended (journaled) partition will do the job.

    PM me if you don't get your answer here and we can try moving this to the Mac forum. The guys there are pretty sharp with compatibility issues, seeing as how it's an everyday thing for them

    FAT32 should work. I think it'll take NTFS but you have to set up something with network file-sharing.

    I use a 10G FAT32 portable HD all the time between my Mac and my PC. Most common video formats and files will run on either machine.

    I'm a bit unsure about the fat32 partition cause heard it won't handle large drives. My friend's insisting on HFS+/Journaled, but he's a mac user. Guess the NTFS is discarded, that's already some good info. I'll check with the mac forum guys. Thanks, guys!
