I understand from reading this forum and elsewhere that this unit has DV out . I would like to use this feature to convert my collection of regular Video 8 tapes to DV for editing on a PC.
My scheme is this:
1. Convert using RCA video in to DVD-R
By the way, is DV out available during conversion ????
2. Play the DVD and output the DV to PC
Any comment ?.
Thanks.

I think it only has a DV in function, not out.

It does have DV out.
You have to record the video to disc before it can be exported via DV. If you have video editing software that will recognize the Pioneer for importing DV video (I know iMovie 4.x & 5.0.1 works on Macs) then the transfer is simple to do.
There also is nice software for PCs and Macs that can convert the video from a DVD for editing, in which case you don't need to use the Pioneers DV export.
