I scan the slides but i can't export them to my slide show software.
What file will let me export them?
My Visioneer scanner uses paper port and when i open scan soft documents the software won' take them.
I read all the help topics ,nothing about exporting files to software.
Please help I know this should be easy Thanks Bob

If you scan and save with pageport the photos will be saved as a pageport document (.max). You need the photos saved as a jpeg file (.jpg). You may end up having to rescan them with MS Paint or another graphics software. Another thing you can do is open each picture and do a Print Screen and open it in MS Paint , but that will probally deminish the quality.

If at all possible save to a BMP file (bitmap) and only convert to JPG as final step. Otherwise file will be converted twice, and definitely loose quality.
Difference is significant and obvious once you try it both ways. -

I cheat!
I have a Sony CD Mavica, multi-megapixel digital camera that records on CD-r media. point and shoot and your done.
I projected my slides and shot them one after another. Fast and great quality, better than most scanners, except a film scanner. I have a Minolta Dimage scan dual for film and slides, rather slow but best quality, beyond that viewable on a monitor.

Some of you do not know what you are talking about. If you project a slide onto a screen and take a picture of it, it will look OK only on an old TV, not HD or Plasma. The image cannot be developed either as it is way too low quality. Use a scanner. Does not have to be high end. Set it for a very high DPI, 2,000-4,000 is all you need. SAVE AS TIFF, not someother format. Save your TIFF's on a CD. Then edit them down to JPEG or some othger format to make movies out of them. www.dvdhomevideoeditor.com has some extreme samples of use of slides for movies as demos on line. Kick butt. I ordered a show from them for a funeral and they explained during the process in laymans terms how to do it myself at home. Ins and outs. You need a native scanner. If it comes with a template for 35mm slides youare golden. You will have to go into your scanner software and set it for POS film, it will default to NEG film.

maretedkatie, I looked at the site you referenced, but they didn't list a do it yourself tutorial on slides, just 8mm film transfer. If you still have what they sent/told you, could you post it? I have a Umax 4450 with a back lit slide scanner feature, but I can't find much data in the forums on the best way to scan/capture slides.
