  2. This is really interesting 'news'

P.S. - you probably simply need to upgrade your firmware as it probably does not recognize some of the newer media codes, so it is defaulting to 2.4x.

  3. I upgraded my 1100A with a 1100A-to-1300A firmware update, and it now burns the 8x media at 4x. The latest 1100A firmware did not burn the 8x media at 4x. Do a search for the special firmware update, I can't remember where I found it, but it does work. It also ads DVD-R(W) burning to the 1100A drive.

  4. I agree with skittelsen that you might as well convert it to a 1300, I have one and it is a great drive. I thought I'd seen that there was a 1100-1300 conversion, but wasn't sure. I did the same to my 2100 to turn it into a 2500, I'm sure it's a similar process here.

  6. Actually Herrie doesn't have anything on his site to convert from an 1100 a 1300. Check here:

    http://etna.rpc1.org/nec/nec1100%20to%201300.html

P.S. - it looks like the 1100 converted to a 1300 will not work very well with -R media, but it would still be worth upgrading for the better firmware available for the 1300.

  7. When upgrading the 1100A drive to 1300A, limit the DVD-R burns to 2x and it will burn the disks fine. But at 4x you will have some problems. DVD+R will work just fine at 4x.
