Hi,
I have a divx file that seems damaged or fake.
When I try and play it, it plays a black screen for just a few secondsDetails:
OpenDML AVI
Filelength correct
Interleave: not supported
4cc: xvid
audio: pcm 1411 kb/s (705/ch, stereo) 44100 Hz
then halts. Same with loading in Virtualdub. No errors are reported
but the only scanned part is the 1st few seconds. I used Divfix
to change the header and the resulting file is only a few kb in size.
Any ideas? Is this likely to be a fake file? I've never seen a fake
divx before so I'm not sure what to look for![]()

Well by the looks of it it uses XviD and not DivX anyway.
Try compressing it with say winrar. If it is fake then it will most likely compress real well.
