  1. Hi all.
can anyone help..i have a pioneer 106 dvd burner, i have had it for a year or so..i have been using the same media as i always have..but today after trying to backup a movie error messages are poping up..one said problem reading disc(using tmpeg movie author)..another said "runtime error" after 99% of the dvd was burned,(that was using dvd decrypter)
and i when i insert a dvd into the drive it tells me that there is nothing on the disc.
the disc is a manufactured dvd so i know it works.

is my burner up the spout?
is there some thing i can try to determine wether it has had it?

    cheers.

  2. I have a similar problem. All of a sudden, my 106 burner will only burn
"-" media, no "+". As a matter of fact, 20 minutes earlier it was burning both format.
No new application was installed nor any changes to the PC.
Does any body have any idea what happened or is it time to upgrade?
    Never too old to learn

Maybe the laser lens needs cleaning?

The 105's and 106's are prone to dirty lasers.
I have dissasembled and cleaned quite a few.
The problem is compounded if you are a smoker.
I use q-tips and denatured alcohol to clean the lens.
Others have had success with commercial disk
cleaners, but I have never tried one.

  5. You could try compressed air first.
