Hi ya,
Im using Vegas 5.0 and DVD architect ......
I have a bunch of clips I would like to render to mpeg2 using ac3 audio. I cant seem to find out how to do that. I can render to mpeg2 and mpeg 1 layer 2 audio..that seems to be default settings. Can some vegas expert please post how I can render mpeg 2 using ac3 as default??
Thanks much

You have to have the AC3 Plugin , But also you can only output AC3 first then the Video.

I think i have the plug in.....
but if i save the video seperately from the audio how do i combine them again??? I want mpeg 2 with ac3 audio...

If you are using DVD architect it will Mux the Audio and Video together when you Author your DVD.

In DVD architect just ad Video then your AC3 file and it will take care of the rest, You can also use Tmpgenc to mux them together , but with DVD architect you dont need to do it before hand.

Render the files as a WAV and let DVD Architect convert them to AC-3 when you author it. DVD Architect 2.0 can be touchy about accepting AC-3 files and when it does, often they are out of synch. If you have DVD Architect 1.0, it is a bit more forgiving, but not as powerful.

@Blazey
I have never had this problem you are talking about , but you are right DVD architect can do it to. -

ok..ill just use the dvd Architect to render it when im ready to burn the dvd.
I just noticed vegas wont import a clip with ac3 audio..bizzare -
in vegas, just 'render as' and select AC3 audio and you can then set bitrate, etc. I haven't had a problem doing it that way, but always do it in two steps, render video (when I do use vegas for that) and then render audio.
The mpeg2 setting has a set of templates incl. NTSC audio/video but you're right, the default is mpeg1 layer2 and there doesn't seem to be a way to change that to AC3 (b/c then you could save your own tempate).
to me it's easier to render audio from vegas b/c then you can see the file sizes and make sure everything will fit and just do the authoring in dvda (e.g. have your assets all ready before you start to build the dvd)."As you ramble on through life, brother, whatever be your goal - keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon the hole."
