I just wrote a review for this blank media spindle of 25 I bought dirt-cheap (see link below). However, I still feel entitled to critique and question its quality, no matter how cheap.

Simply put, I am a newbie to the DVD recorder scene (having just purchased a Zenith DVR-413, which works magnificently), and have just tried DVD-Rs, and DVD-RWs. I use the DVD-Rs for that which I want to keep, and DVD-RWs for that which I want to edit.

I had no problems with the Memorex DVD-Rs/-RWs, and even got a +R in a package which worked fine, so I assumed the DVD+RW from CompUSA would have the same functionality as the Memorex DVD-RW.

It doesn't.

First off, it must be formatted as it doesn't work off the box (no biggie), but also makes a weird root menu with "Empty Title (hours left, like 6h7m)", and won't show the Edit functions I am used to with the Memorexes. Namely, these are "Edit", then "Delete", as well as "Playlist".

Would this be the case with all +RWs (in which case I'll just purchase -RWs of any brand again), or the CompUSA brand itself, you think?

Sorry for the n00bishness of the post. Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Victoria
