I ahve been posting this for awhile in the Newbie forum, but its not new, so I will post it here.

Ok, i have been posting in this forum since May 2004, and while that is not that long, it feels like a long time to me. Here is my problem.

I have been posting that I have a problem with video/audio sync when i rip vob files from dvds by chapter, and then open them with VirtuaDub-Mpeg. It is not all the dvd's i rip, so i can't predict when it will occur. I have tried to delay the audio, but sometime that will not help. I use SmartRipper to rip the vob files, here are my current settings:

A recent vob file i am having a problem with starts synced, but about 3 seconds in the audio is faster than the video.

What I want to do, what I have always wanted to do, is clip HQ clips from mainstream movies, with loud enough audio to hear the dialogue and music, clear and bright enough video to enjoy the scene, and to have those two synced up.

I have decided on avi format, do to several people in this forum telling me that it was the best way to go for a quality/bitrate/file size product i wanted. I use DivX 5 to encode my clips, and I am generally happy with the results. These clips are usually between 10 seconds and 5 minutes.

I want a high quality with a comparibly small filesize, like 20mb/min.

So, my big problem right now is the audio/video sync. Despite a few replies on the Audio board, I have found no information that helps my situation. I don't want to delay audio, because then the first part of the clip has no sound. I want to be able to sync up the A/V with as few applications as possible, and just make good clips.

If anyone has anything that would help me here, I would be very grateful.

Much love!
