  1. I own a Philips DVP-642 and I have a bunch of DivX/XviD files and most of them either just fit onto a 700MB CD-R or take up half of it and those ones wont fast forward and it get's very irritating. Is there anything I can do about this?

  3. I usually do. I also have another problem, some people say that they burn Divx/XviD files on DVD and play them on the DVP-642 but when I burn them on DVD's they do not work. uh that is a problem.

I first burned my XVID/DIVX files with Nero Express as a data disc but I couldn't pause, ffwd etc. Then someone said burning to ISO9660 standard not Joliet was the way to go. I tried this with Nero(not Express this time) and they all worked properly this time.

  5. @ KiwiKid

I've burned all my XviD backups using Nero Express and a normal Data disc at 8x, and they've all worked perfectly.

Once I used 4x and there was a sync and FF/RW problem. Strange eh?

I suspect this has nothing to do with the way you're burning the discs. It has to do with properties of the mp4 files themselves.

I've found this can be solved by simply opening your AVI file in VirtualDub/Mod and saving it out with direct stream copy on the audio and video. You can also try using DivFix to rebuild the index (which is what is likely your problem). It's easy as pie.

  7. I now value my DVP-642 a hundred times more now because now that I can ff and rw now it is sweet so go with what KiwiKid said "burning to ISO9660 standard not Joliet was the way to go."
