Hi .I was at my friends today who has a philips dvp 642/37 dvd player. He has no remote so i took mine.
I brought a few divx dvds which all worked no problem then i went into setup and there was an option for
Progressive scan. I do not remember word by word but it asked whether i would like to check if the tv has progressive scan so i pressed ok.Now the whole picture disappeared . The dvd still receives the signal ,i can tell while pressin stop/play on the remote etc it just that the tv shows no signal from the dvd whatsoever. Its an older tv i must add.
Also i tried to restart both (turned off the power) and nothing changed still tv does not show anything, just blank screen while the dvd is in play mode.
What should i do in this situation. Thx all for help.

You have to know the exact keystroke sequence to set the 642 back to interlaced. It's been posted here before.

To turn off progressive scan without menu access, just turn on the player, open the disc tray, and press 1 on the remote control.Last edited by jagabo; 3rd Jun 2010 at 19:32.
