My Pioneer DVD recorder stores video in 2 Channel Dolby Digital format and I'm looking for a tool to edit out the adverts without having to re-encode everything.

The demo of MPGEnc MPEG editor works well but does not copy over the audio and complains saying that teh 2 Channel Dolby Digital is not supported.

Am I correct in saying that if I buy the Sound Plugin AC3 then it will allow me to edit these files complete with audio?

    Thanks

    VideoReDo for editing.
TMPGENC DVD Author for, well, authoring
    Nero 6 for burning.

Et viola. I tried out dozens of other apps, these are the very best for what you are trying to do.

The only thing I would add would be that TDA will actually edit, author and burn all in one.

In my experience, editing files in TMPGENC DVD Author is best used only with files that have been created with the TMPGENC encoder. Files from other sources have always given me problems (skips at edit points, random freezing, etc.). Hence the recommendation for VideoReDo.
