  1. Hello all,

I have my original Lion King Platinum Edition, and my daughter love this movie a lot. She is watching at least 3 times per week.
I am concern about the scratching the surface, and that's why I decide to make a copy from this beautiful movie.

I used CloneDVD, and CloneDVD2 ( seems to me 2 different programs from different companies ).

I can burn successfuly but when the time is coming and to play in my dvd player I do have troubles.

In my Phillips DVP-642 these copy DVD are playing with no problem.

In my Panasonic RV31 none of these 2 copies coming from 2 different program are playing, and getting the error on TV :

" Cannot play these type of dvd media.
Please insert the right media "

It is a protection issue, or what ?

So what I need to make a copy from my DVD to be able to play on my Panasonic ?

    Thank you.

It could just be the blanks you are using.

I had no trouble backing up any of my Lion King Dvd's.

  3. It's probably the media, look to the left(DVD players) to see what your Panasonic will play.

  4. Right now I am doing another copy from different movie using the same DVD blank media.
I would like to see if I will have the same problem.

  5. Another idea cross my minds.

What happened if I do copy in DVD+R and not in DVD-R ? My Panasonic can read only DVD-R, and my Phillips can read both .

How can I check to see in which format a DVD media was wrote ?

Even if this was the reason, I don't know how to change + or - when I burn with these 2 programs ClodeDVD and/or CloneDVD2 ?

    Thanks again

BTW my DVD writer is Plextor PX-716A and can burn both formats + or - as well.

Try differnet media and different burn speeds - different players "like" different media. Also try DVD+R instead of -R. I cannot play my DVD-R copies on my portable DVD player even though they play fine in my other standalones and the portable plays DVD-Rs burnt by other people but it plays DVD+Rs fine - stange but true
    Regards
    EDIT
If your burner supports both +R and -R then the program (Clone DVD) won't make any distinction it will just burn to whatever media you stick in.
Well that's how it is on mine anyway.

+ or - is determined by the type of blank disks that you bought not the burning process, they come as either + or -.

Unfortunately I cannot control the burn speeds in cloneDVD, or at least I cannot figure out how to do this.
I will try for sure with different media to see how is in my Panasonic player.

  10. icevideo! make sure that your dvd players said progressive scan or rw compatible because most dvd players are made to play just a few dvd format! but with progressive scan dvd players it can scan to what format that the dvd is recorded in!! and it will play most to all format!!!

  11. Well, my Panasonic can read everything except the + DVD format.
I can read with no problem the VCD, RW, DVD-RW.

That's not what progressive scan means, definition here.

In interlaced TV (most standard tv's) the first field of the video is drawn using every second line, then the second field is drawn using every other line. Combined, the two fields make one frame of the video.

Progressive draws every line of the frame in one go, you need a progressive DVD player and a TV capable of progressive display to make it work right.

Could have just been lucky.... or perhaps your progressive scan player could be newer than the other ones, or is made by a manufacturer that tends to have players that supports DVD recordable media better.

No. One DVD laser. One CD laser.
"More or less dye" is not really true either.

That has nothing to do with thickness. There are AZO (like MCC), pure organics (like TY), and cyanine derivative discs (like PRINCO).

Panasonic,Toshiba,JVC and Pioneer can only read DVD-R or DVD+R with the DVD-ROM booktype.
Use DVDInfoPro to find what format the discs are.
