I have been using my Panasonic NVDS11 digital video camera for some years now but only recently used the feature to place the current date/time on video.
The date/time can be viewed on the LCD screen when playing the video back but when I CAPTURE the video to my PC the date/time is NOT shown (nor is it captured) yet it appears on the LCD screen.
Do I have a problem with my camera? Is this normal (I would hope not) or is there some other problem?
    Thanks in anticipation.

No, you don't have a problem, this is normal. The time/date info is not part of the video, but is separate. The information is actually in the captured file, but most video apps aren't capable of using it.

There are several tools that can extract the time/date info from the file, eg. DV_datecode or DV Time Stamp . Have a look through the DV category in Tools for other examples.
