  1. Hey there everyone. Here is a question on trojans or viruses. My dad has been getting an email from someone he knows(not neccessarily friends but aquaintences) with email attatchments.

The only instructions in the email is Read the Help before use.......and the attatched file is a MS-DOS application that is 18.7kb big. It's file name is wsd01.com. The email subject line was "Your Registration is Accepted"

Can trojans or viruses be planted in ms-dos programs.......I suspect its the type that you run and the dos box pops up and closes right away. I scanned with McAfee but it found nothing.

We just can't figure out why this guy would be sending us this email.......there has been some bad blood in the past and recently with this guy and unfortunetely he is the owner of our ISP company.....which we are switching really really soon.

Am I being paranoid or do you think my concerns are legit.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  2. Any e-mail with an attachment that you are not expecting (i.e you know what it is and why it has been sent) is supicious. Delete it. If it was for real the sender will ask you if you received it. The sender name is easily forged.

  3. I would kind of like to figure out if this guy really sent it or not.....I can see him trying to pull a stunt like this. He could have one of his techies send it under his name so we would open it.

Is it possible to find out his ip address in the header and then retrace the steps to see where it came from??

Then again if its more work than what its worth then we can forget it.

I just wouldnt mind nailing this guy. With trying to give us a virus or trojan that is.....
