Although this is not the DVD standard, is it possible to author a DVD video with mp3 audio?
DVD-Lab only lets authoring 48 or 96 kHz mpeg layer 2 files (mp2), but is there any other program letting mpeg2video+mp3audio combinations?
I guess that as almost every standalone dvd player also supports mp3 files, the resulting dvd would be readable.
Is it possible? Thanks!

Hello,
Nope - for dvd video the audio it accepts at the 48khz levels are:
AC3
PCM
MP2
That's all.

A .MPA (MPeg Audio) file IS MP2 - don't confuse the file extension with the compression codec! WordPerfect used to create .DOC files, but they weren't the same as MS Word files by any means

MPA is the same as mp2.
As for MP3 DVD authoring, I'm yet to see an authoring tool that allows this, as it makes a mockery of the DVD spec if it did.
A couple of things spring to mind:
You can create MPEG-1 Layer 3 audio when encoding an MPEG file (before authoring).
Not all players that play MP3 can play MP3 off DVD either.
If you were to get a player that plays raw MPEG, you just might be able to get it to play.If in doubt, Google it.
