  1. Hello all,

I was wondering if it's possible to uninstall Internet explorer completly from your computer?

I'm almost convinced that IE is 100% garbage now adays and I'm willing to take the plunge full force into firefox now.

But I want to erase internet explorer from all my computers and user profiles in the house. Not just delete the icon.

    Thanks

There is a program called LitePC, but be careful if you use it.

firefox is a good browser, but by no means perfect. shorlty after blockbuster began their "no late fee's" promotion i went to visit their website to see if they had a movie in stock. i was unable to navigate past the main page because of the stupid flash animation they had. i was able to navigate the page just fine with IE. i wouldnt remove IE from your system, you might find that you'll need it occasionally.

That is what the ad-blocking extension is for.

If you have the ad-blocking extension, you can block out flash ads.

  11. I'm not familar with the Blockbuster site but its probably like alot of other sites that have the link built into the flash presentation therefore blocking it wouldn't help.

i think ie is hidden in add/remove like some others like media players and messanger. BUT there are ways of basically un-hiding them and then uninstalling them. simple web search could help ya out. i dont know why u would wanna uninstall it though. firefox is not 100% you gotta figure microsoft is what everybody designs their shyte around so you need it in some instances.

  13. I don't think you can totally remove IE. As good as FireFox is IE may still have some uses for you. Windows updates is one example.

IE6 is an integral part of XP and XP SP1 (i cant say for sp2 or non XP OS's) and using Add Remove> Windows Components will do absolutely nothing....reboot and its back.

IE isn't listed under the main Add / Remove window, it's under Add / Remove Window$ Components on the left pane.

So long as you don't open it, it can't do any harm IMO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Not that I personally have any problems with IE, but I beg to differ on the 'as long as you don't open it' thing. I've seen people's PCs on more than one occasion that would spawn browser windows in the middle of using the computer or at startup even though the user hadn't opened an IE session. Granted, this is a spyware issue, but a risk nonetheless.

Spyware issue, and probably going to happen no matter which browser you have installed
    If in doubt, Google it.

IE has been deep deep in the OS Since Win 98. If you removed IE from 98 it would almost become 95.

It is impossible to remove it from XP 100% you can get rid of part but are parts that are in the OS are and if you were to try and manually remove these parts yuld kill your OS install.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

The Blockbuster thing seems more like a problem with the site, not the Browser. I hate those types of typical responses. Site doesn't load, must be Firefox. That looks ugly, must be Firefox. There was a post like that yesterday when the site was going down.

You can't remove IE. That uninstall thing just removes the shortcuts to it.
