  1. Hello guys,
i tried to do a search to find an anwer to this but was unsuccessful so here it goes.

I use Dvd-Lab Pro to author my dvd's. I have made several dvd's all of which i am very satisfied with. I use tmpegenc xpress to covnert my avi files to compliant mpeg2's with wav audio. When I import them into dvdlab, it tells me that i need to demux the files. it also gives me an option to skip the demuxing but during the compilation process, a dialogue box forces me to demux the compliant mpegs. Then after that lenghty process of demuxing, the compilation begins and starts muxing the files back together. This extra step of demuxing and muxing it back again takes about 2 extra hours.

why does dvdlab pro demux when it's gonna mux it back together? Is there a way to skip this process and is it necessary to demux and mux?

  2. The last step in tmpgenc should let you output elementary streams. Use it
If you dont' have that option, demux in tmpgenc's mpeg tools, convert audio to AC3 with ffmpeggui, then import AC3 and M2V into DVDLab.

  3. yes, i could do that but must i demux the files. The muxing process takes forever. Why can't dvd lab just use the muxed files to make the dvd?

dvd-lab chooses to use elementary streams. If you don't like it, you can choose not to use dvd-lab
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Good question. It's been asked before, and the guy who wrote DVDLab (his name is Oscar) is (probably) going to include demuxing as an option in the next release.
The basis for demuxing goes back to the "old days", when one encoded a video to mpeg, it never WAS muxed, it always came out as elementary streams, or only the video was encoded, and one had to add audio only during authoring.

  9. Go to the Project properties, Options Tab. In Non-elementary streams choose 'Use without demultiplexing'. You have all options for your choice, so before complaining just study them.

Multiplexing/Demultiplexing is not an old days option, because you want sometimes to create video with more than one audio stream from different sources...

    Good luck

thanks for the response. I'll see if this gets rid of the long muxing phase.

EDIT: yes, this helps alot. thank you very much.

  11. Thank you for your reply. I knew about switched menu, but I thought there's another way to create images with layers. I see, I was wrong.

    Thanks.
