CloneDVD is a all in 1, except you will need anydvd for the copy protection.

CloneDVD will transcode and burn for you and even turn your PC off when done.....lol

  4. Just curious why you use Decrypter to burn. I use DVD shrink to shrink down and edit out the credits in the beginning and especially the end of a movie which can be as long as 8 minutes worth of total crap. Then Shrink automatically prompts me to put in a DVD to burn. The only thing is that I think that Shrink burns slower then Nero and the 8 speed of my burner that it should be burning at.

The other thing I think, though others may correct me, is that that I don't think you need DVD decrypter at all for movies before Macrovision which I think was started in about 1998. I have successfully used DVD shrink on ripping many older DVD movies without DVD decrypter.

    1. DVDDecrypter (Save on HHD)
    2. DVD2one (Shrink to fit)
    3. Copytodvd (Burn)

If backing up to a dual layered DL dvd

    newhere,

1 - If you're happy with the results that you are getting then you are doing absolutely fine. Nothing wrong with that setup.

2 - I happen to use DVDDecrypter to copy, Instant Copy 7 to reencode and DVDDecrypter to burn.

    3 - See #1
    Have a good one,

I think he was referring to your source disck. If the source disc is single layer you don't neeed anything but decrypter, if it's a dual layer disk you shrink it down to fit on a single layer (most people don't use dual layer discs yet)

Oh, I was starting off with a movie Industry dvd (store bought) to be backed up. To either a single layered dvdr or a dual layered (DL) dvd. I'll edit my previous post

  11. I asked this question because I am happy with the DVDs I can burn
but will every 2 DVDs I burn I get one I/O Error and DVD is waste...

So I was thinking if there is a better way to do it, or some precautions to prevent the errors.

    TIA

    1. Use Shrink to re-author, encode and shrink to a single ISO file on your HDD. The drive you are sending the image 'to' has to be formatted NTFS. If the drive is formatted Fat32 make the ISO images in 1g blocks.

    2. Use Decrypter to burn the ISO image.

A simple, quick, 2 stage exercise that will make all of your problems go-away. More importantly, both applications are free.

Well I dont re-author it... do you think that is the problem...
I just use decrypter to download to HD and then DVDShrink to shrink and create one ISO file...
    and the decrypter to burn.....
I get all the error while burning...

If you do not re-author, you will finish up having a lot of compression in Shrink which can take a long time to analyse and encode. I re-author each backup as all I want is the picture. If I want to see the trailors etc. I can always use the original DVD. Re-authoring the main picture only shortens the process.

Forgot to mention, I uncheck both burn with DVD Decrypter and Nero. I manually start Decrypter and choose the image to be burned.

If you elect to use the method as described earlier, I feel certain you will not experience any errors unless you are using bad media.
