Removing Dolby 5.1

I have a great capture from an ATI HD tuner card. The quality is outstanding even after transcoding from its proprietary ATI format to MPG. My problem is the sound was Dolby 5.1 and my Authoring software (Ulead DVD Movie Factory which has been *great*) doesn't appear to support it. After I authored there was no sound at all. I am not concerned about retaining the Dolby 5.1 I just need sound. How do I convert this so DVD Movie Factory can author it properly with just normal sound. I believe there were 2 settings in Ulead for audio LPCM and MPEG audio. I used LPCM which I thought was correct??? Will I need a different program all together to convert this audio??? Can VirtualDub perform something like this??? Will I have sync problems???

why not author with a tool that supports 5.1? like tmpgenc dvd author , dvd-lab.

Check out guides associated with BeSweet (spelling ?) - it may hel you out.

I agree with Baldrick on this one though - if you already have a solid 5.1 audio track, why sacrifice it because your authoring program can't handle it ? Both the options Baldrick mentioned are relatively cheap, and can handle AC3 audio.

I could be wrong, but doesn't TMPGEnc DVD Author only handle Dolby 2.0 ?

Tda imports ac3 5.1 to be used as is but doesnt encode 5.1 to 2.0.

Sorry to bring this old topic back. However, I need to know if the above is true for NeroVision.

I am trying to author some .VOB files with NeroVision to a DVD-R. The files are in Dolby 5.1 and I need to know if NVE will encode them to Dolby 2.0 (Since is the format it support with the plug-in) or it will use them as 5.1 (original audio)

I want my DVD with the 5.1 audio. So, if the NVE will change them to 2.0, then what will you recomend to author them with the original audio?

I have also read that you can use DVDShrink to do it, if you create the .ifo files with IfoEdit. Are there any guides that can help me to do it with this method?
