  1. I find it VERY difficult and awkward to do any editing on this machine. editing out adverts on the original HDD recording is very confusing. i guess you need to create playlists to edit out all commercials on the HDD..Don't know how to link all the playlists together to get one continuous 3 hour recording W/O commercials??

I recently purchased a JVC SR-MV30. It is a nice DVDR with an sVhs deck. I wish it had your 160gig HD.

The DVDR seems to spec out the same as yours. And No, there is no easy way to edit out commercials. The manuel is very sketchy about some of the procedures. Much is assumed about any particular procedure.
    Delete Unwanted Part Of The Program instructions are as follows;
    • PressNavigation. The Library Database DVD Navi screen appears.
    • Press < /\ \/ > to seledt "Origional", then press Enter.
    • Press < > to select one program whose unwanted part you want to delete, then press \/.
    • Press arrows to select Editing, enter.
    • Press Play to start playback.
    • Find the point where you want the deletion to begin, then press Enter with the arron on "IN".
    • Find the point where you want the deletion to end, then press Wnter with the arrow on "OUT". . . . use FF, RW or Pause to find edit-in and edit-out points.
    • Preview
    • Execute
    • Confirm deletion
    • Press Navigation to return to the normal screen.

No easy way to edit the capture.

I am taking the DVD -R created and by the JVC and using TMPGEnc DVD Author to create menu's, cut edit and reauthoring. The captures I am getting are worth the effort. I would not feel the same about TV.

I hope you find a process or tool to help.

  4. The way I do it:
o Add chapter point at the beginning and ending point of the area I want to delete during normal playback session. In this way, I can look at the video at full screen and (more importantly) I can use the "go to time" function.

o Go to the edit menu as described in previous postings but instead of starting playing the video, press pause.

o Jump to the point you want using the "next chapter" key. Do the deletion accordingly.

  5. Ref; JVC DR-MH30S.. that deletion procedure is only good if you edit from a DVD disk not the HD
