  1. Hi everyone. I got my VIDEO_TS files, .vob, .bup, and .ifo. When I burned it on to a DVD+R (and a DVD-R after the first attempt), it was recognized as a DVD on the computer on which I made the DVD (It has Windows XP). Then, I tried to play it on my other computer (Windows 98SE) and it reacted to it like it wasn't a DVD but a DVD+R (It does nothing by struggling to try to read it). Then I tried it on my DVD player and it said it can't read it. I figured the disk wasn't finalized correctly. I am using the newest version of Nero. I made it a DVD-Video with no problems. If it wasn't finalized correctly, why does it ONLY play in the DVD-ROM of the computer on which I made the DVD? It's been making me really angry. I appreciate any help.

What type of DVD Burner did you use? What type of DVD Player did you try it on? What brand of media did you use?
If you would complete your system specs in your profile would make it easy to help..

  3. Oh yeah, sorry. I have a Plextor PX-708UF7 external DVD burner. I tried to put it on a DVD-R and DVD+R. My Windows XP computer has a DVD-ROM. My Windows 98SE computer has a DVD-ROM (Only worked like a DVD on the Windows XP computer). My DVD player is Sony combo DVD/VHS. It supports DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW. Both DVD-ROM's are the same (I think).

This is where my problem gets confusing.

  5. The DVD-R was from Memorex and the DVD+R was from Verbatim.

The player might not like the media.

You may need to buy better +r blanks.

A DVD-R or a DVD+R is still exactly what it is even when burnt as a DVD-VIDEO....its not, and never will be, a real manufactured DVD-VIDEO disc.

This is basically the old media compatability problem. Just because drive 'A' says it can read DVD+R's (or DVD-Rs) does not mean it will read ALL discs from all manufactures..they dont.

  9. Is there any way to get DVD-VIDEO disks?

That would be the disks that you rent at Blockbuster.

Yes, go to a shop/store/online/catalogue and buy what you require..for example: HELLBOY is one of 187,000 titles available on DVD-VIDEO...or go and see a speciliast manufacturer (you may find places in ASIA work out more cost effective) and they will probably do you a run based on multiples of a 1000.

  12. Okay, okay, okay, I get it. But is it possible to get a DVD-R working onto a DVD player? Could it have something to do with the files I used? I got these files from *************** (Can't tell you). But I believe they were ripped off a real DVD, not sure.

Yes, I do it all the time with DVD's that I own. Your DVD's of unknown/possibly warez/probably against the AUP origin.....well I'm afraid I can't help you and I don't think you'll get much more help.

  14. So you are saying that if I actually had the DVD, I could rip it off and put it on a DVD-R, but since I don't know where these ripped files came from, I shouldn't try to burn them because they probably don't work?

    No, he is saying

    a. if you have downloaded them, they are probably corrupt
    b. if you don't own the original, it is illegal to have these files, and you will not be helped by members of this site. Read the rules, especially those concerning the discussion of "warez".
