  1. I'm having some problems with Nero Recode 2. I'm converting a 7.5gb dvd-rip to a 3.5gb nero digital file. It's set to start from chapter 1 and end with the last chapter. The output, however, is only the last 55 minutes or so of the movie. I experimented with different output filesizes, and each time it would cut off the first half or more of the movie, and output only the ending. It does the whole movie when the output is set to 700mb (1 cd) with the exact same settings.

  2. Oh, one more thing. While it is encoding, the filesize goes up to what its supposed to be. As soon as the encoding finishes, the file is 'cut in half'

This is quite possible a dvd ripping issue where the manufacturer has included some little tricks in the menu , and tickering with ifo"s .

Always play the rip with pc dvd player software , if fine , then you shouldnt have any problems , but also be aware that this could also be caused by creating a 3.5gig file on a FAT32 formated drive , which only supports creation of 2.02gig files (I know the max fat32 supports) .

If your on ntfs formated drive , then your issue relates to the manufacters tinkering to prevent people form ripping the dvds in correct sequence , I would try another ripping program just to be sure , and play it again in pc's dvd player software app .

Finally , software or operating system issues .

There might be an issue with nero handling 7.5gig of dvd related files , or possibly its an issue with neros mp4 format , that restricts it to creating files below a specified size , if the later exists , I would say nero is droping what it cant fit as it adds more to the output file , and I have seen this happen before .

At a guess , if the 1 cd output is working fine , then I'd say you found a bug in nero .

I found a bug in nero vision express - make movie .

Imported video files , then decided I wanted to tweak output settings , and then bang , my video buss shut down , this happened twice , and nero has been informed of the potential problem , and I am waiting still for a reply from them as to how to resove this issue .

  4. Wow, I had completely forgotten about this post...haven't used Recode since then. Anyway, the problem still isn't solved. The strange thing is that encoding the same project again without changing any settings has a 50/50 chance of working correctly (the output file is the correct size and includes the whole movie instead of just the last whatever minutes)

I'm on an NTFS formatted drive
