    My views, by the way..

    Pro Right to Bear Arms
Anti-NRA ( I really dislike some of the decisions and views they've chosen to support lately)
    Anti-Replublican
VERY Pro Gun-Control (I'm around children - a lot - tho none of my own - the thought of one of them finding a new 'toy' terrifies me).

    Heh..arent too many

They're sweet. A shove instead of a snap when you fire them. I've put 300 rounds through it in one sitting without the slightest discomfort 8)
And, Yoda is right. Please don't discuss the 2nd amendment, or any politics here. Thanks

Capmaster, what are New Mexico's gun control laws like? In Nevada, it takes is an 8 hour gun-safety couse, passing a rediculously easy accuracy test, and $125 to become licensed to conceal up to 2 firearms (must pass the test with each one).. Kinda spooky, but ironically, I only know 3 other people that even OWN guns in Reno..

Nothing to do here.... The last handgun I purchased took less than 10 minutes. That was shortkly after they passed all those laws. Filled out the paperwork, they made a phone call to the State Police gun check line and that was it. Done Deal.

BTW, I usually keep my Sig P226 around with a full clip of HydraShok. Not a cannon but I guess it doesn't matter when you can shoot someone 15 times.

Not sure what the concealed-carry requirement is here. But we just got that a couple years ago. I have no need for it so I haven't checked into it.

A couple guys at work said it's almost a scam, with the outrageous license fees, long wait for the permit, and their right to deny it without refunding the fee No thanks Still, it's nice to have the option. Great to live in a western state, innit? 8)

Dr. Gee - It shouldn't be too risky to unload both at the same time. Now if it were a 10 gauge, I'd say you'll get a sore shoulder

I got a few toys. Don't get to play too much anymore. I used to be a damb good shot even if I do say so myself. If you don't practice you loose it. My eyes are going too. I had taken some long shots in my day. 299 out of 300 points the previous range record had been like in the 260s. We didn't dare claim it was a perfect 300 (I wasn't supossed to be there) but I say that the ring was more than broken (pisses me off) Give me a couple of hours and I would like to think that I could do it again. I messed around with some Doppler type scopes that had some killer electronics and veiw screens, an optical/electronic hybred that I haven't seen or heard of since the early 80s. It was the knats ass toy. You could almost read the fine print on the bottom of the target at a very long range. It calculated tajectory, windage(real wind), tempeture, baremetric pressure, distance and displayed it all in an easy to use format right on the cross hairs. If you had a line of sight you could lob a round over an obsticle and almost double the maximum effective range of a round. I would love to have some play time with the new stuff, hell I would be happy to have time just to plink with a 22. Our favorote past time was shooting just under a can in the sand and making it jump without putting holes in the can. If you waited too long or hit the can you bought the next round of beer. Hmm gunpowder and alcohol that just don't sound good

Heh...In Nevada - they cannot deny you, unless you fail one of the tests. You do have to list a reason you're applying for a concealed permit, however. But, "because I can" is a reason enough answer. I'm not even sure why they ask the question, if it dosnt matter one way or the other.. (maybe they're trying to catch the 1 in a 1,000,000 idiot who lists he's going to kill someone?)

Thecoalman - this may be for PURCHASING a firearm, but I promise you in no state can you simply carry a loaded firearm CONCEALED, *legally*, without a permit, or license of some sort. Heh heh.

I forget the exact fee here but I think it's $20 and is usually issued quickly. Nice living in a gun loving Eastern State innit. :P

Yes see my last post, it's fairly easy to get one as long as your record is clean. The licenses are issued by the county sheriff so I would bet it varies. Where I live it's pretty easy because everyone and there grandmother owns a gun so there isn't a lot of ati-gun advocates around to bitch about it. If I had to put an estimate on it I would bet at least 1/3 the population was hunters if not more.

S&W Highway patrolman. Best damb .357 ever made. You can keep your .44s and .41s and 9mms. I havent checked lately but I think that the .357 still does the most tissue damage. The Highway patrolman with target grips fits your hand better and you can hold on to it with three fingers and your thumb, leaving you trigger finger to do its job. Them damb over sized combat grips are for you to use for a club after you miss all your shots because you can't hold on to the gun like you should. Don't much care for autos. I mean I like them and all. but other than an old Luger, not too many fit your hand like they should. Sigs are nice. I resent the plastic Glocks. Had a Bretta (92SB I think) that had a damb recall on it. The saftey had a tolerence problem. I just had got a notice or read it somewhere so I went and sat down on the bed with it. I kicked out the magazine, cleared the tube, stripped the magazine and shoved it back in. Just then the slide kicked forward and the hammer dropped. If there had been a round in the magazine it would have been stripped off, chambered and fired. Right thru my left knee! I wondered if the pin had actually been hit hard enough to fire a round. So I took it to a gunsmith without messing with anything and asked if he could tell. He said that by all rights I should be a cripple. I told him that he could have that damb gun. About a few months later I got a check in the mail from someone other than Bretta for like $1500. I don't know what the old coddger told Bretta but they seemed to think it was worth more than twice what I paid for that gun to have it back!
I didn't know it but at about the same time my brother had the same model and sent a round thru his linen closet killing several sheets and pillow cases. His live in girlfreind didn't like that too much I guess. She moved out the next day

@DrGee Cool link, I would swear that those are the same times and days that the Issack Walton League used to have back home again in Indiana NW Indiana that is. I used to work at a Scout camp near Whitehall Michigan when I was young, I worked feild sports one year, Archery and Rifle range. Good times. Only ever had to look down the barrel of a 22 one time. With the kid pulling on the trigger saying that its jambed. Good thing the saftey was half on. Whew! Probally wouldn't have killed me but I bet it would have hurt like hell!

Heh...My favorite weapon is still my AR-15(as you can see in the pictures)...as far as pistols go, it'd have to be my little black 9mm. (made right down the street from where I live - Standard Arms of Nevada). Only jammed up like 3-4 times, and I've shot with it easily over 2 dozen times in the last 6 months.
