Yes i'm sort of new to this,But i have a Sony HX-900(160gb hardrive).I've recorded about 10 disc(-Rs) so far. Recently i bought a spindle of Memorex DVD-Rs And had about 5 come up with a code saying disc is dirty when it wasn't, when recording from the harddrive...I had good luck with the few Sony DVD-Rs i've used,But I want to Do most of my recording on DVD-R,& i understand that there are Great disc disc out there.Which should i go with?? What to look for?? I heard there was a Good brand that starts with the letter I .. Help would be greatly appreciated. I need to buy some more disc but i want a GOOD quality & to a point money is not the issue. I Just want A DVD-r that will work good with my Sony Hx-900.

  2. Ive been using prodics's at 40 cents a piece, but ill probably get flamed for saying it

For absolute quality most prefer Tiayo Yudens, at least 80 cents a disc. most discs that were made in japan seems to get good results. Discs made in Tiwaan are lower quality

Many of the member here will agree that Taiyo-Yuden is simply the best you can buy. They can be found at Rima.com, Meritline.com, & Supermediastore.com. Just use the links at the bottom of the page.

If you prefer to buy your discs at a local store, look for the following brands: Maxell, Fuji, & maybe Sony. Then check the label for the words "Made in Japan."

Note: Maxell "Made in Japan" could also be Maxell's own in-house manufactured discs. Maxell made media is also regarded as top quality (perhaps even rivaling Taiyo Yuden).

Success is a combination of recorder, media, and player. You might consider buying a sample pack from an online store (the three listed above should sell such a pack). This would allow you to test for a suitable media without buying a whole spindle of discs that might end up wasted.
