Zone problems portable dvd

Good Morning

Sorry i was unable to find where to out how to put this on the dvd hack page.

I bought a portable DVD player in the United States
Audiovox D1712
due to wrong zone it will not play DVD's in Australia

This was a present for my daughters 18th birthday
if someone could help me i would really be eternally grateful

According to the pdf for that model I downloaded from their web site, the region code is fixed for the country for which it is sold. In other words, you should have read up first, before spending your money. Some machines will allow a minimum number of changes to the region code(usually 5) but this one will not. If your daughter has a computer, have her read up at this forum so she can rip the movies she has and make them region free. Sorry, mate, DRM sux big time, and you've been had.

Thanks for your quick reply yes i have been had i told the guy that i was from Australia and asked him if there would be any problem with playing dvd's at home before i bought it.

Similar situation to Sharon from Australia - I'm from Argentina and recently bought a portable DVD player Audiovox D1812PK in the United States,
which is zone 1, so it will not play my DVD's from zone 4 (Argentina).

I was wondering if someone can help me find out if this dvd player could be hacked to make it multi-region, or if I have to do the same as Sharon was suggested.
(I know, I know... do more research before spending your money - but it was a language problem / it said it was "multi-system" and I understood it was "multi-region").

"To change region codes:
Power on, Press open on the DVD player
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key 3 tiems
The preference page will show up, press 9653,
Use the up and down key to select the Region,
Select 0 for all regions"

I'll try it as soon as I get the DVD delivered and will post the results. If in the meantime somebody could confirm that it works will be appreciated.
