    Hello.

I have a problem for my Citizen.I want a code for the free zone.

I try this but no result:

    1) Open Tray

    2) Press "Title" + "9735". A secret menu will appear.

    3) Go the the "Region" section of the menu, and select "Region 0". Then "Exit Setup.

    Thanks.

    pap.

Did you get your answer? I didn't find a new recipe to unlock my Citizen C201DVD. If anyone has one that works, please post it here or a link to it. Thanks!

Sometimes manufacturers make hardware or firmware changes that break working hacks. If you are lucky someone will post with a new hack that works. If you're not lucky, you won't be able to change it.

Thanks jman98. Hopefully I'll get a working hack... I have so many DVDs bought in Europe. It would be sad to not be able to play them. Otherwise I will try to buy a DVD player that is able to be unlocked easily...

Be sure you can take a new player back if you can't make it region free. We're getting a large number of posts from North America about players that used to be able to be put into region free mode that now no longer can be. In the recent past Philips just about didn't make a player that couldn't be made region free. Now we're getting a lot of posts asking why the hacks for various Philips players don't work now. It looks like the MPAA may have gotten to all of the major manufacturers for North America and gotten them to turn off this feature.

  6. Hey, I pushed in the code and it worked just fine. I bought my player from Superstore today. The secret menu didn't come up but after I pushed in the code it worked just fine.

Since this appears to be a DVD player issue, moving to the DVD & Blu-ray Players forum.
