  1. I backed up some of my VHS tapes to my standalone DVD recorder (DVD+R).

I don't need to do any editing - but I'd like to combine a few of the recordings into one DVD. And I'd also like to create a menu.

In addition, I'd like to have an authoring program that will allow me to put some text pages in. For instance, you could click "Bio" on the menu, and it would bring up just a text page.

So basically I'm looking for a program that will:
    1. Take the data from my burned DVD+R's from my standalone.
    2. Allow me to combine several of these files so they can go on 1 DVD.
    3. Create a menu.
    4. Allow text pages as part of the DVD - that can be taken to from the menu.
    5. Burn to my DVD+R burner on my PC.

Anyone have any suggestions on some programs that could get me started? Thanks for any help!

Use something like DVD Decrypter to rip the files from the DVD to HD.

Tha can all be done with a authoring app or a All-In-One. See the tools section under disc authoring and the all in one section.

If you want real cheap try Ulead Movie Factory ($50) or on the high end Ulead DVD workshop 2 ($500). You get what you pay for, Workshop offers nearly unlimited customization. I know with workshop you can import the disc right into it eliminating the need for decrypter, I think MF might have that feature too.

thecoalman is correct, use DVD Decrrypter to rip the disc to your hard drive. DVD Decyypter is a handy program to have around. Check the guides for more info...

I would also like to suggest TMPGEnc DVD Author as a possiblity for your authoring software. It works quite well and is reasonably priced.

    Good Luck!

  4. when I would pull my stuff into TMPGENC DVD Author, I had to make sure that I selected "rip[ as one big file" in dvdecrypter or TDA wouldnt accept it.
