Cheaper Alterative to DVDRemakePro and its join feature?

Being able to join two DVDs to 1 DVD-R with menu's to both fully intact is a HIGHLY useful feature,especially for anime fans backing up discs in their collection the majority of which are less than 3GBs each. Though i've been reluctant to get DVDRemakePro because its kinda pricey($40).

So before i plunk down money on this program i thought i'd ask, any other programs out there that can perform the same joining feature for cheaper?

nothing I know will join and keep the DVD's in their original structure. A few will suggest DVD2One etc but I think I know which merge you want. I would dare say you could do it with PGCEdit and the combination of a few other freeware tools depending on knowledge and time limitations

the thing I look at when regarding paying for software is my 'free' time saved. If you are going to use it regularly enough then $36 (10% Discount is available at a few places ), which is £20 here in UK, isn't that many 'free' time hours to me but everyone will be different. Sometimes the software may even save a few coasters which is another bonus

I wrote a guide on how to use DVDRemake to merge DVD's (it's in the guides section here). Maybe it will come in handy if you try to do it with freeware as most of the steps should be the same.

I knew what I was doing but I wouldn't attempt a merge manually ever again, it was more to see if I could do it at the time. You can so easily make a mistake such as missing one command update as you need to check all commands forany changes. Imagine doing that with a DVD that contains loads of commands . I'm lazy now as a few clicks is all it takes to do it automatically

if you will ever use the other features then it will be a bonus I suppose

Pricey? For $40. I disagree.

Sonic Scenarist. That's pricey.
DVD Studio Pro. That's pricey.
Matrox cards. That's pricey.

$40 .... no. Most people have that in their wallet.

I'll just say that DVDRM Pro has saved me a lot of money, because now when I author my home made movies, I can add chapters, merge them together, and make much more sophisticated DVD's than my low-level DVD authoring kit will alllow. Best value for money ever! Plus I can now split anything!

Plus, I got discounts, because I also bought Menuedit first, which made DVDRemake cost less, which in turn made DVDRM pro cost less.

Scenarist costs like $5000 or something. Even a more than basic authoring program like DVDLab costs $100. I can get the same function with DVDRM and me crappy authoring too (Nero Vision Express)...

When DVDRM 3 comes out, I'll probably buy that too.

Also, Dimad is a very hard worker
