  1. Hi,

Im trying to back up my Spiderman DVD but am having the following problem.

Using DVD Shrink I copied the main movie (along with its english audio / subtitle and 2 extra audio's, diretors commentry & cast commentry). I then did a test burn to DVD-RW and found that when I played it on my stand alone player I could switch between the 3 audio's by way of my remote control at any point in the movie but could not do so with the subtitles. I know that the subtitles on my original disc can only be accessed via the menu but since I just copied the movie (less compression / better quality) I am wondering if this might be the problem.

If anyone knows a way to sort this problem out so that I can access the subtitle from my remote (swithing it on and off when required) It would be greatly appreciated.

    ThanX

you may need to change the PUOP's settings so that DVDShrink removes them if it isn't selected

do you have logical remapping selected also?

check that your all your software players allows you to swap streams before burning next time

Yup it waz set to remove prohibited user op's

"Logical remapping" wasn't selected but then it wasn't selected by default, and as I don't actually know what its for, I left it off. Anywayz I ripped it again, this time with 2 subs, english and the spiderman fact thingies (which come on every 10-20 secs and contain some interesting facts about spiders and the movie). The outcome is that now I am able to select either or no subs from my remote at any point in the movie which is what I wanted so all's well that ends well, cheers for the reply.

    Thanx

the logical remapping will change the stream locations. Take a DVD with 5 subs and remove stream 1 then streams 2,3,4,5 become streams 1,2,3,4 instead

it's much tidier for movie only DVD's as it get's rid of the empty stream info. You can imagine if you had 32 subs and the one you kept was stream 15. It would be a nightmare changing subs as it would rotate through them all before getting to stream 15

one thing is though, I wouldn't use logical remapping on a full DVD backup unless you know the consequences
