I want to replace a DVD language track with another. So I demuxed the main movie (PGCDemux), replaced the audio with the new one, muxed everything back with IfoEdit and put the main movie back to the DVD structure using the function īreplace' in VobBlanker.
Problem is, when playing the DVD in PowerDVD, if you choose those subtitles (and thereīs only one) on the DVD menu or on right-click/subtitles/primary subtitles, they donīt appear on the screen.
Playing the main movie (before replacing operation in VobBlanker) it works as normal.
Any ideas on what may be going on?
Thanks in advance.

You said 'language track'. That usually means the audio. But did you mean the subtitle track?
If so, you said you replaced it. Did you mean replace it (1 before, 1 after) or did you mean you added to it (1 before, 2 after). The reason I ask is because if you added one you have to 'turn it on' (using PGCEdit is the easiest way) before it can be seen by the player, because the original IFOs still show only one subtitle. Yes, I know you said there's only one. Are you sure?
There could also be other reasons, like they're too low to be seen. When you open the DVD in DVDSubEdit, can you see the subs? And when you open the DVD in PGCEdit, highlight the movie, and then hit the green reel-of-film icon along the top, do the subs show in the new screen?Last edited by manono; 24th Feb 2010 at 23:45.

YES

YES
Here goes a detailed list of what I did:
1. The original DVD had 3 languages (English, German and Spanish) and 21 subtitles, was about 7GB.
2. I shrunk it with DVDShrink keeping languages English and German and 1 subtitle - Portuguese. Now 4,3 GB.
3. I didnīt like though the long list of unused subtitles, then I deleted them in PGCEdit, which suggested to look for all SetSTN commands and update the files. I didnīt do this cause later I would disable the button Language/Subtitles anyway.
4. I demuxed the main movie and muxed back with IfoEdit, replacing German language with Portuguese (from another source)
*** POWER-DVD: UNTIL NOW THE SUBTITLES APPEAR NORMALLY WHEN PLAYING THE DVD
5. Put the main movie back to the DVD structure using the function īreplace' in VobBlanker.

Oh, you used DVD Shrink and removed a lot of stuff. That's what probably messed things up. Check out this guide which deals with getting menus back after using DVD Shrink, particularly Step 9.
...it is quite possible that the buttons on the audio and subpicture menus now no longer function entirely correctly.
If that suggestion doesn't work, or you don't know how to carry it out, I have another suggestion. Rather than doing the replace step using VobBlanker, you can often use PGCEdit for the job if - if - there is only one title in the VTS with the movie.
Open the DVD in PGCEdit. Highlight the movie. Then go File->Replace VTST Titles and follow the easy instructions from there. And hope for the best. -
Nice tutorial but didnīt help much.
However, I discovered that using the option Copy PGC Stream Control From Replacing IFO in VobBlanker did the job perfectly, tested in PowerDVD and on the DVD Player.
Thanks manono, for all your support.
