MS release an anti-spyware tool?
I bet it's spyware itself ... I downloaded the other day but having 2nd thoughts about actually installing due to their little spying reputation they have already!!
Use Ad-Aware or something non-M$ IMO!!Erm, HELP!!!!! -
What is that "genuine validation" bullshit... ok scan my computer and provide M$ with every license key and proggie I have on my system....
No thanks ... I stick to Lavasoft and Spybot -

It's a copy of Giant spyware they recently purchased. I was a reseller for Giant. Giant is actually a very good product. It fixed many PC's that Adaware and Hijack would not fix.

Not bad... will no doubt load on home machine... Kerio should keep any unauthorized communications tween proggie and M$ at bay -

IMO its 5star and it works as a guardian for IE to stop pop ups and hijack attempts.. i strongly recommend it

I don't see where he was kidding. To rephrase I believe the question is "Does it work with SP1 or are you required to have SP2 installed to use it?"

This comes up during the Setup Assistant...
SpyNet is Microsoft's response to the endless barrage of new spyware software. SpyNet uses industry standard security methods to link thousands of personal computers, like your, to the world's first anti-spyware network. As soon as one computer in the network picks up a new string of spyware, Microsoft AntiSpyware will automatically react to protect your system. Together, SpyNet subscribers wield the supremacy of a vast anti-spyware community.
SpyNet or SkyNet?Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
If you don't want to deal with the ActiveX 'Genuine Windows Validation' nonsense, you can directly download it from http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/1/5/815d2d60-49b5-44dc-ae35-fca2f2c6f0cc/Micr...areInstall.exe
NOTE: This version expires on: 7/31/2005
There's something about Micro$oft's latest software ventures that I don't trust. Not sure why but I don't have a good feeling about their ventures into the AntiSpyWare and AntiVirus world. -
SpyNet was part of Giant before MS bought it, so it wasn't some MS plot (well, at least not originally...).
Giant is good and catches some stuff the others miss, though it also gives some false positives. The Giant team was VERY responsive on the spywarewarrior forums, and turned fixes around for some false positives & bugs quickly. I hope that team is still involved with the development of the app, though I'm skeptical. -
Just tried it. It found 32 threats, and 258 registry keys affected. And I only ran Spybot, and Aol Spyware checker about 8 hours ago. Looks the bollox to me.
