  1. I am trying to convert an xvid file to dvd, but would first like to get rid of a watermark at the bottom left corner of the video. I tried using the MSU logo remover plug-in in virtualdub but did not like the results. The watermark is so small that I don't mind just clipping off a small portion of the bottom of the picture. When I attempted to do this in TmpGenc, it would not let me keep the original audio (Mpeg Layer 3 codec). It does give me the option of choosing uncompressed PCM wave, but then the resulting file size is larger than I would like. Is there any other way I can clip the bottom of my picture while keeping all other attributes of the original file the same? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Load VirtualDub----Video----Filters--Null Transform-

Then, you'll be able to choose the cropping button on the right.

  3. I did what you said and the file size is still bigger. The original file was about 20mb, but the resulting file after cropping is now 1.2 GB. What am I missing?

If you're converting the xvid to DVD then you cannot keep the MP3 audio, it is not DVD compliant. Use TMPGEnc to convert (and clip) and output as elementary streams, M2V video and MP2 audio. Use ffmpeggui to convert the xvid audio to AC3 then author the mp2 and AC3 into your DVD. Alternatively you could just use the MP2 audio on your DVD but there is sometimes compatibility problems if you live in NTSC land.

If you want to use Virtualdub then you should learn to frameserve, click here.

If the logo is far enough down, overscan might block it out anyway without having to crop it out
    If in doubt, Google it.

You don't. Your TV does that when you play something back on it.
    If in doubt, Google it.
