  1. DVD Shrink seems to crash alot when analizing DVD's from my DVD drives but never when it is reading it off my hard drive if I use another program to red it on to theDisk. Is this comon or do I have some kind of problem.

I would then rip the DVD's with DVDDecrypter and then use DVD Shrink.

Maybe the CPU is getting overheated. Whilst analizing and encoding the CPU is running at 100%. The more compression in Shrink the longer that process takes.

Does Shrink crash when you are backing up a DVD at 100% ???

  6. Shrink only locks up it doesn't crash my machineand only when it is reading from DVD rom drive. Example yesterday I had Shrink do a deep analises and it crashed about 75% done so I did it again and it maid it through. Then I re edited it and this is the point I don't understand it has already done a deep analises does it not store this on the HD because when I re edited it and hi backup it starts reading it from the DVD rom again when encoding and it crashed. So you can see the time that was lost. I just don't understand why because if the files are on the HD with DVD Decrypter it has no problem at all. The hole thing of it not storing it on the HD when it does a deep analisesd puzzels me the only time it prompts me to store anything is when I hit backyup. Do I have a setting wrong someware.

I have had the same problem of late whilst backing up a couple of the DVD's given to me at Xmas. Two of those back-ups were at 68 & 70% compression level in Shrink. Deep analysist was applied to both which makes 2 passes to improve quality. Analysing was around 30-40 min. and encoding was around 40-60 minutes. Shrink froze on both occasions whilst encoding. The second time round analysing wasn't necessary and the encoding finished. Burnt the two ISO files with DVD Decypter without any problems and both back-ups look as good as my original DVD on an 80cm TV.

It is summer here and dam hot, so, I put the freeze in Shrink down to the CPU overheating. That may not be the reason but it is the only thing I can put it down to.
