  1. Hello. I am having some issues configuring WinDVR. I just installed my new Hauppauge PVR-150 and WinDVR. The software picked up the video input instantly and it looks good (not great, but I will tweak that later) my issue is with the sound; there is none. I have tried the settings many different ways and I cannot get it to work. I only have the soundcard on my MB and it is fairly old. I am using a P3 833 running win2k. I have an inkling that the issue may have to do with audio drivers as the intervideo site says this is a system requirement...

Could one of you wise folks enlighten me? What is WDM? Is is required? Where can I get it? How do I install it? Thanks in advance.

Stop right there! Don't do anything else! Remove that WinDVR program, because that's a WDM program. You just got a Hardware MPEG2 Encoder card, why would you use a program designed more for WDM capture cards that uses WDM Video Capture Driver and WDM Audio Capture Driver.

I have the same card you have, but I use GB-PVR and turns your PC into a HTPC. What is HTPC, Home Theater Personal Computer. GB-PVR is freeware and can be found on www.gbpvr.com, where I am daily. Stop by and check the program.

One other note, the WinTV PVR-150 can be used with Media MVP 1000 also from the same manufacturer. With MVP, GB-PVR and PVR-150 you can watch LiVE TV, record and do a lot of things on both the PC and your home living TV by using MVP 1000.

Just to let also know that the WinDVR if you still want to use it, is very buggy. I use to use it and the WinDVD Recorder Platinum on a WDM Capture card.

Right now since you just got your PVR-150, it's still running in the default mode for sharpness and detail this around 3. With a registry tweak you can set it to the MAX. There is a program that will do that for you also on another site.

    See you on GBPVR site...
