You mean your transferring you video from VHS to hi-8/D8 tape on a Digital cam there's no difference quality wise. By just transferring direct to computer your saving wear and tear on your cam, time too since you don't have to transfer twice if that is how you need to do it etc.

  3. YES, YES AND YES, YOUE ARE VERY RIGHT!! THAT'S WHY I INQUIRED ABOUT THE PASS THRU SYSTEM HOPING THAT I COULD SAVE TIME HERE IN MY PRESENT SYSTEM.
I SAW THE BIG DIFFERENCES!! IF I CAPURE DIRECTLY TO MY COMPUTER VIA THE ANALOGUE OR RGA CABLE, THE IMAGES ARE SOMEWHAT SPREAD OUT MEANING IT IS NOT THAT SHARP AS CAPTURED THRU HI8 OR THE SYSTEM FIREWIRE.
WELL IF YOU CAN HELP ME FURTHER ON THIS PROBLEM I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT! BUT THAT'S ALL I KNOW SO FAR AS FAR AS TRANSFERRING VHS TAPES TO DVD IS CONCERN!

Each cam is different, read the manual.

  5. On my Sony DV camcorder, it's fairly simple. You have to enable DV out on the camcorder from your camcorder's menu. Make sure that no tape is in the DV camcorder. Use the RCA cables that came with your camcorder to connect your VCR to your computer.
