I purchased the A03 burner to create DVDs and also using Ulead DVD Factory to author. I created a DVD-R that works fine in my Apex 5131 but plays very choppy on the Sony player. The video will become choppy and then an error code will appear stating that it cannot read this disk. I played the disk on my laptop and my Apex DVD players with no problem.

I read that the Sony DVP-S500D was capable of playing DVD-Rs, some I'm wondering why it doesn't work well for me. I have the bitrate for the DVD-r set to 5000, I'm wondering if it's to high for the player to deal with. This setting is known to be the best quality setting for the capture device I am using (ADS Instant DVD).

I'm also using cheap disks, they cost $3.95 a piece, but remember they play fine on everything else except this player. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ej

    :P Thanks Spidey,

I thought I was losing my mind. I also noticed that the older DVD compatibility list shows this particular DVD player unabled to play DVD-R. I think the newer one shows that it can but I guess you would have to hunt around for the right media. I personally don't have the patience or time to do that.

I'm probably going to get another DVD player that will play DVDrs and be done with it.

    Thanks for the response,
    ej
