This is a very odd problem I'm having with TMPGE Plus 2.5 recently. Whenever I start to author a avi to (s)vcd and I minimize the window it stops encoding, and even if I don't and the screen saver comes on it and stops it from doing it's job, too.

I really love this program for doing my encoding but it seems I will have to start using another program if this continues.

Anyone else with this problem as I am having???

Go to Options -> Task priority and see if it's set to idle when not active.

That's exactly what it is set to, but I have that setting on another PC and it does not do stop or slow down when I minimize the window, very strange.

So you're saying it is set to idle when not active? Out of curiousity, why not set it to one of the other settings just to rule it out?

TMPGEnc should encode when set to idle even when minimized - it does with me.

  6. Hit Alt-Ctrl-Del to bring up task manager. Go to the Processes tab and look to see what programs are consuming CPU cycles. I suspect you have some other program that is consuming 100 percent of the CPU when others aren't running.

If you have two processes that want 100 percent of the CPU, one running at idle priority and the other running at a higher priority, the higher priority process will get all the CPU cycles.

I set it to another setting and it does encode while idle now, but I'm still curious about the problem. Like I said it doesn't do that on my other PC.

I guess the main thing is that it works, even in idle mode and when minimized. I checked the processes and nothing showed up as running 100% with the TMPGE application.

Thanks to everyone that helped on the matter.

What is your other PC's setting for 'not active'?
