  1. I have a few dvds that was made on a stand alone. They have pretty good clarity, but no chapter points, what's the easiest way to redo them with menu and chapters. I'm somewhat familiar with Vegas 4.0 and DVDA. Thanks.

I would look at DVD Lab. Load the vobs into DVD Lab's assets bin. You will be prompted to demux - do so. Add menus and chapters (either manually or automatically), compile and burn.

If you want to use DVDA, use something like IFOEdit to demux first, then load the video and audio components into DVDA. It should not have to reencode, but DVDA can be a bit particular about what it will accept.

    If in doubt, Google it.

I often rip my discs to my hard drive with DVD Decrypter (Ifo mode/no file splitting) and end up with one large VOB. (DVD Decrypter can also demux the VOBs, and if necessary, they can be re-muxed with TMPGEnc.)

For fast, easy, and COMPLIANT authoring, you can't beat TMPGEnc DVD Author. If you want to put out some real cash: Ulead DVD Workshop 2. Even then, I still find the TMPGEnc programs useful and hard to beat.
