  1. My pc now has a sonycd burner and a old pioneer 2x burner, I just ordered a new sony 16x dvd burner. My question is should I keep my old 2x burner and put in my new 16x sony burner so I can copy dvd to dvd ?

I'm in a similar situation, and that's what I plan on doing. After I get things working, I might put the extra cd burner in an external USB or Firewire enclosure. Then I'll be set for just about anything.

  4. I just got a 16x memorex dvd burner to go along with my HP 2.4x burner. I have copied dvd to dvd using my backups only usually takes 15 mins. using nero.

No, DVD to DVD (nor CD to CD for that matter) is generally not a good idea. If you're going to as "Why?", the answer is "It doesn't work reliably."

    I agree with Mats

Do not do it because on the fly copying is not reliable.

You can try it, but as the last 2 post and mine are saying, it's not going to work well for you, that's coming from experience. Better and more reliable to rip it then burn it

Oops! The others are correct about DVD to DVD being less reliable. But I do remember reading some people have no problems.

Also, my older Pioneer burner reads discs very well - much better than my existing DVD-ROM.

Another advantage is that you can burn two DVDs at the same time, provided your software supports this. (Some dispute this, too.)
