  1. Would you consider removing the AvenueA download crapola from this site.

It is so annoying to have to block this garbage. Thanks for keeping my Spybot active!

    Just a suggestion,

option 1 - select SpyBot "Immunize" to "Block all bad pages silently"
option 2 - Never tried this, but I have read you can "opt out" here : http://www.atlasdmt.com/privacy/opting.asp?cookieStatus=noCookie
option 3 - stay away from the titties :P , the 'swear'ware and for (insert Diety here) sake use Mozilla ..... Firefox.

Actually, this site DOES have that! Sybot is simply blocking the download of banner ad cookies. This occurs when I am not logged in, and whenever I switch from the main page to the forum page and vice versa.

The fact that spybot is blocking it from these web pages is proof of it!

I just find it most annoying, especially on this- one of my favorite sites.

    Oh well, that's life..

I think you'll find that Baldrick can (and has on occasion) switch off the advertising for members from time to time, so if you log in, this might cure the issue from time to time. The other thing is that this site doesn't pay for itself, so some advertising is to be expected.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I think the advertising has to do with your "Cookie session" Not AvenueA or Baldrick turning it off. And i really cant see Baldrick having adware/AvenueA.

AvenueA is an advertising agency (just like doubleclick) which inserts banner ad cookies that are sent to users (without clicking on them) from banner ads.

I have noticed that the spybot "blocked AvenueA download" window pops up whenever the "supermediastore" ad is in the top banner.

For those of you trying to "help" me by telling me how to stop/block such things, I an well aware of how to do this and do not need any asistance in this regard. Spybot works well for this!

I am simply pointing out a fact that exists in the banner ads here, and that I don't like it. That's all.

Simple block it from the source. Using IE got to the menu bar>tools>internet options>privacy tab>advanced button Select override automatic cookie handling then check block under first party and third party. Check allow session cookies. I find this works well for most sites. For the ones that it doesn't I just don't use them

It's more of a privacy issue, the big brother syndrome.

I just did a test and he's right, I didn't get any AvenuA but it was one from fastclick when I loaded the main page.... Anyhow if you follow the directions above I posted you can seperate and block any cookies from the ad servers and still retain the one from videohelp if you want it.

I did some further testing and found that the supermediastore banner is not the problem. I tested by NOT being logged in and switching from the forum page and main page over and over until I narrowed down the ad.

The "Spybot blocked download of AnenueA, Inc." occurs 100% of the time when the large AT&T banner is on the right side. And it is in fact an "AvenueA, Inc." cookie.

I guess I'm just one of those people who don't like to be bombarded with garbage behind the scenes. I personally believe that people should be told up front (by advertisers/ads) what they are going to be hit with.

Behind the scenes cookies, downloads, spyware really gets on my nerves.
I realize that it is up to the user to protect themselves from these invasions.

I am very pleased that the Administrator of this site is open to dialog about such things, many aren't. I also understand the commercial business need for such advertising.

    Okay, I'm done.

Why not just leave the Videohelp cookie alone to log you in automatically? The banners don't appear to logged-in members, AFAIK.
