Many tv stations have gone to having large, animated adds - similiar to logos but much larger and brief (say only 5-15 seconds). Some take up to nearly half the screen. Does anyone have a clue as to a decent way to remove these?

There is a filter called logoaway (or is it de-logo?) for virtualdub, but with something that big it is unlikley to be able to do much good.

I have seen a conditional filter for virtualdub but i have not tried it. Thought I could combine that with delogo (or one of those) and at least black it out. Has anyone done this? Is there an easier way to select a subset of the video file and apply a filter to only that portion?

Well, if you have a VCR with fire wire you can do it that way.
