  1. I just downloaded TMPEGEnc and tried to use it. However, everytime I try to follow the directions on the site on how to use TMPEGEnc, I get error messages.

When I browse for my video source, and try to open it, I get the following message:

File "F:/Samples.avi" can not open, or unsupported. [OK]

The name of my .avi is obviously Samples. Anyone have any ideas?

  2. Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I just want to say that I have exactly the same experience and problem. I was beginning to think it was just ME.

  3. The most likely situation here is that you have an avi but not the appropriate codec for it. ( A downloaded divx is the usual culprit. )

If that's the case, you'll have to find the matching divx codec and install that.

If it's one you captured yourself, then I'm afraid it beats heck outta me!

  4. Would you happen to know what software *might* work with this?

  5. Seems like the only program that actually worked that is recommended on this site is the Panasonic MPEG Encoder 2.5. But the problem is that it's a demo and only lasts 30 seconds with a "Panasonic MPEG Encoder 2.5" stamped at the bottom of the video.

    Can someone help me out?

Hello...I was having the same problem until today. This information was posted by alfa1234, further down in the forum. Apparently VirtualDub fixes corrupt avi files.
Open the avi in VirtualDub....I used version 1.3c, but I'm not sure if it matters. Under video, make sure 'full processing mode' is checked. Also under video, click on 'compression'. Make sure to highlight 'Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2'. Now click on audio and make sure 'full processing mode' is checked off for that too. Now, go to 'file' and save it as 'old format avi'. The avi will be pretty large when it's finished, but it opens up in TmpgENC so u can make it into an mpg. Hope this helps!

  7. try 2 use TMPGEnc 12a, it worked 4 me whilst with the latest version it said "cannot open, unsupported" when i tried 2 encode avi 2 mpeg.

  8. Even TMPGEnc12a didn't work. It mentioned something about not being able to work with compressed audio. Could that have something to do with it? How can I fix that problem if it is affecting it?

  9. Hey guys, SEND ME AN E-MAIL and i can send you copies of Virtualdub1.3c which supports DivX, or i can send an audio uncompressing program, or even a pack with the codecs for divx in it!
    :-p

  11. Yes Nicki...I tried.

It still doesn't work. Maybe it's my computer...

  12. Just when I was about to give up, I decided to give it another shot when it was 2am. What do you know...it worked!

I followed Nicki's instructions....but instead of using TMPGEnc12a, I used the latest one. So far so good. Why didn't I think of using the latest one earlier!??

Now, I just have to create a .bin file and use CDRWin to burn it. That is another story from hell all in itself. CDRWin doesn't seem to "understand" the bin file created by VCDImagerGUI.

  13. Let me nit-pick at that last item: did you try to open the .bin file with CDRWin, or is that just a typo? Make sure you're opening the .cue file or you'll have trouble!

  14. Whoops! My apoligies....

Yes...I tried to use the .cue file and it's not working.
