I have been using prodisc 4x inkjet printables for almost a year and have not had any problems. I recently upgraded my dvd burner to a lite-on 1633s. I ordered some 8x printable from supermedia and started having problems. Sometimes I get perfect burns and sometimes not. My lg 4x burner burns them perfect though. Sometimes the burns will read in my sony player but not in my pc dvd drive. Here is what dvdinfo says about my media...

What this says to me is the media is actually only 4x which might explain why I can burn most dvd's at 4x with clonedvd2 and not have any problems. Is that true? If so supermedia is selling 4x media as 8x.
Now I had some left over ritek g04 inkjet printables and decided to try burning them at 8x since I read some threads of people actually having good luck with it. I burned Res Evil 2 in just over 6 minutes. I'm using clonedvd2 and anydvd. When I popped it back in the dvd drive it played perfectly. I did a crc check with dvdinfo and it turned out perfect.
I used omnipatcher from the codeguys to patch my original firmware. My question is, do I maybe have a bad batch of media, or is it a firmware media compatibility issue?

Do some digging here and you will see that a lot of people have problems with F01s, especially the printables. Since you have an Available Write Descriptor CLV 8.0x I would not suggest that this is 4X media. Quite a few media will get better burns at slower speeds. I would avoid this and maybe consider Ritek G05s. Many people have better luck with these. Your writer is generally better at +R so you might not. Check around and maybe you can find someone with some scans before you buy.
Still a few bugs in the system...
