  1. Need some help urgently.

i bought a panasonic dmr-e55 dvd-recorder this week and i'm really happy with it.

i got many vhs tapes which i'm going to record onto dvd right now. ie i got one 2h tape which contains about 35 short movies. i'd like to have seperate title/track for each movie so i can skip those 35 movie index easily afterwards when playing the final dvd.

this is not a problem on dmr-e55 but it takes much time, cause i will have to stop and restart recording after every short movie, otherwise only 1 track will be written.

what i'm trying to do now is recording the whole movie to 1 track dvd and set the index/title-track to each 35 movies afterwards on a pc software, if there is any that could do this job.

    i do only use DVD-R, i don't want to use DVD-RAM media.

    my questions:
is this possible? what's the best software to do that?
is there any software that can import a dvd which are not finalized on my dvd-recorder? (this way i could use the same dvd-r and set all index onto dvd-r before finalizing and burn the dvd-r on a pc)

    my setup:
    panasonic dmr-e55 dvd-recorder
    4.7gb/120min DVD-R media
    PC Windows 2000 Professional

DVD-R disc content after recording with dvd-recorder:
    Folder: VIDEO_TS
    Files:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB

I'm pretty sure you'll have to finalize your disc before transferring the files to your PC. Your machine may offer you the option to un-finalize later on....

I use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode (no file splitting) to rip my discs to the Hard drive. Then re-author/ re-burn as I see fit. If you have no experience authoring, you might want to try TMPGEnc DVD Author first. (There are plenty of guides available to help you.) Check the lists on the left hand side for more.

Once you become familiar with TMPGEnc DVD Author, you might want to consider other programs, but this is more-or-less "the standard."

Also, be sure to use quality discs. Again, check the lists on the left for more.

Yep, TMPGEnc DVD Author is IMO the easiest to learn and can do everything you need to do. You can either make 35 chapter points, or put each movie in its own track if you wish.

As for finalising, I think you have to finalise -R for it to be readable in a PC, don't you ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
